Ghana’s Black Princesses made a bright start to their 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying campaign, beating Tunisia 2-0 in Tunis on Saturday afternoon.
Mercy Attobrah set the tone early, putting Ghana ahead in just the 4th minute. The Al Ahly forward was a constant threat, and though Dreamz Ladies attacker Sarah Nyarko nearly doubled the lead with a solo run, her effort was brilliantly denied by the Tunisian goalkeeper.
Ghana carried a 1-0 advantage into the break before pressing harder in the second half. Attobrah thought she had scored again only to see her effort ruled offside
. But she was not to be denied, finishing clinically from a Linda Owusu Ansah through pass to seal her brace and the victory.
The Princesses return home with a comfortable advantage ahead of the second leg on September 28, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium. A solid result in Accra would send Ghana into the next round, where they will face the winner of the Eswatini-South Africa tie.
