Former Ghana international Yussif Alhassan Chibsah has called on the Black Stars’ forwards to show greater composure in front of goal as they prepare to face Mali in a decisive 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Chad, a game in which Antoine Semenyo, Caleb Yirenkyi and others failed to convert key chances.

With Ghana still leading Group I on 16 points but closely pursued by Comoros (15) and Madagascar (13), tonight’s fixture could prove pivotal in the qualification race.

Mali, meanwhile, sit on 12 points and remain within striking distance.

“So far as the chances are coming, we plead with the strikers to be calm and take those chances,” Chibsah told Asempa FM.

“At the end of the day, that is what makes the difference. Scoreline comes first before possession and other statistics. Goals make difference.”

The highly anticipated encounter is set for 19:00 GMT, with both sides fully aware that the result could define their path to the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
