The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has commenced a scouting programme in the Greater Accra Region aimed at selecting players for its Southern Sector Elite Academy.

The exercise, staged at the Bosta Prison Park, was the first official screening for the academy, which will draw players from the Greater Accra, Volta, and Eastern Regions.

It gave talented youngsters from Greater Accra the platform to display their abilities before a team of national scouts and technical staff.

Leading the assessment was FIFA Talent Coach Stuart McClaren, supported by Elite Academy Manager Joseph Tetteh Zutah, who also works with the National Teams Department, and U-15 coach and Scout Manager Fataw Salifu.

According to the GFA, the initiative serves two key purposes: recruiting fresh talent while replacing players who are advancing to Senior High School (SHS) 2 this year.

This, officials say, will sustain the talent pool and strengthen the foundation of the Elite Academy.

The project remains a central pillar of the FA’s grassroots football agenda, providing structured training, mentorship, and clear development pathways for promising young players into Ghana’s national football system.
