Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo says his emotions were “bittersweet” after featuring in Real Oviedo’s La Liga showdown with Real Madrid on Sunday.
The 27-year-old, making just his second topflight appearance, impressed in midfield and nearly grabbed a goal when his strike rattled the post. But Oviedo were outclassed by Los Blancos, who claimed a 3-0 win at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere.
Kylian Mbappé scored twice before Vinícius Júnior came off the bench to add a late third, leaving Oviedo still chasing their first victory of the season.
After the match, Sibo wrote on Instagram:
“A bittersweet feeling after so much effort during the 90 minutes. Thanks for the great atmosphere yesterday. We’ll experience our first victory together soon.”
Despite the defeat, Sibo remains upbeat about Oviedo’s prospects. Loved by the fans for his tireless performances since joining, he is determined to help the newly-promoted side secure their first win and fight to stay in La Liga.
Oviedo’s next assignment is another tough test at home against Sevilla on August 30.
