Wydad Athletic Club have thrown their support behind head coach Mohamed Amine Benhachem despite a disappointing FIFA Club World Cup campaign.
The Moroccan side lost all three group games; falling 2-0 to Manchester City, 4-1 to Juventus, and 2-1 to Al Ain exiting the tournament without a point.
Benhachem, initially appointed on an interim basis after Rulani Mokwena’s departure, impressed early by winning three straight matches to secure CAF Confederation Cup qualification. That run earned him a two-year deal.
While doubts emerged following Wydad’s struggles on the global stage, club president Hicham Ait Mena and the board have decided to back Benhachem, trusting his long-term project to deliver success in the 2025/26 season.
