Nations FC Brands Manager Kennedy Boakye Ansah has allegedly claimed his side were faced with death threats before their game against Holy Stars on Sunday in the Ghana Premier League

Heading into the game, Nations FC were top of the league and needed to secure a win, or avoid defeat, to maintain their momentum atop of the league and push them closer to a historic first-ever title.

On the other hand, Basake needed to avoid defeat to boost their chances of staying in the Ghana Premier League.

Nations FC abandoned the clash mid-game after what the club later described as contentious officiating calls – two penalties were awarded against them.

Nations in the aftermath of the incident released a statement, citing major reasons as to why the game was abandoned.

The latest to weigh in on the conversation is Brands Manager of Nations, Kennedy Boakye Ansah.

Speaking to 3Sports, he revealed the club was allegedly faced with death threats before the game started in Basake.

“We will file an official complaint to the GFA. We will see whatever decision the FA will take.Like i mentioned, we are not longer interested in Ghana football. They told us: either we lose the game [against Basake Holy Stars] or they kill someone.”

The final verdict on the issue will be passed by the Ghana Football Association, who are expected to award three points to Basake Holy Stars, deeming the game a forfeit by Nations FC.
