Ghana’s Black Satellites have been named the most disciplined and fair-playing team of the group stage at the ongoing TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2025. The recognition, awarded by the tournament’s Technical Study Group, highlights not only Ghana’s strong on-field performances but also their commendable sportsmanship and respect for the spirit of the game.

In a tournament filled with high-pressure encounters, the Black Satellites have stood out for their clean and respectful approach. The Technical Study Group praised the team for their exemplary behaviour, noting their consistent respect for opponents and match officials, as well as their restraint during challenging moments.

“This is a recognition of our values as a team,” said Head Coach Desmond Ofei. “We believe in winning the right way—with discipline, with heart, and with respect for the game. It’s a great honour to have that acknowledged at this level.”

Central defender Aaron Essel echoed those sentiments, emphasizing the importance of character in representing Ghana. “It’s not just about the results. It’s about how we represent Ghana on and off the field. This fair play recognition belongs to every member of the squad,” he said.

Ghana completed the group stage with a strong disciplinary record across all three Group C matches, maintaining competitive intensity without crossing the line.

As the team prepares to face host nation Egypt in a quarter-final showdown on Monday, May 12, at the Suez Stadium, the fair play award adds an extra layer of pride and motivation. The Black Satellites now look to continue their journey with not just victory in sight—but honour and integrity leading the way.
