Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has announced the new captaincy structure of the Black Stars, with Jordan Ayew as the captain.

Contrary to earlier reports, Thomas Partey will remain the deputy captain, followed by Mohammed Kudus and Alexander Djiku as the second and third vice-captains, respectively.

According to Asante Twum, the players are aware of the new structure and order.

“It is not about individual aspirations; it is about what we want to do together, and it is about believing in the plan and believing in the vision,” he said on Metro TV.

“The coach has taken a decision to make Jordan Ayew the captain, with Thomas Partey, Mohammed Kudus, and Alexander Djiku serving as the first, second, and third vice-captains of the Black Stars. These players are aware of the structure and the order,”

Jordan Ayew’s captaincy began with two consecutive wins over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars defeated Chad 5-0 and Madagascar 3-0, propelling them to the top of Group I with four games remaining.

The team will regroup in September 2025 for the continuation of the World Cup qualifiers.
