Kumasi to host GFA/FIFA Women’s Football campaign

The Technical Directorate, in partnership with FIFA, will launch the ‘Women’s Football Campaign’ on November 12-13, 2024, in Kumasi. This initiative aligns with the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy Implementation.

The campaign Objectives include:

  • Reduce the gender gap in football
  • Increase participation at all levels
  • Provide a level playing field for girls interested in football

Program Details:

  • 32 Basic Schools in the Kumasi Municipality will participate
  • Girls aged 6-12 will compete in 5-a-side football games
  • The program aims to Encourage grassroots participation, Promote socialization and skill development and Empower girls to make informed decisions about their football pathway.

Partnership with Ghana Education Service (GES):

  • The GFA will collaborate with the Ghana Education Service through the Regional Physical Education Coordinator
  • The partnership seeks to establish new grassroots competitions and leagues in schools.
  • The Ghana Football Association aims to ensure young girls have equal opportunities to play and participate in football and to foster a sense of belonging in the football community.

This campaign is a significant step towards achieving the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy goals.
