Maritzburg United are in discussions with Ghana Premier League side, Ashanti Gold, for the transfer of Yakubu Mohammed.
According to Soccer-Laduma the Ghanaian striker, who scored twice as the local Black Stars defeated Ivory Coast 2-1 in a friendly on Wednesday, has attracted interest from a few PSL clubs.
Maritzburg, SuperSport United and Wits have all shown interest in the talented player.
According to Soccer-Laduma, Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia is currently in talks with his Ashanti counterpart Kudjoe Fiano in Johannesburg.
Fiano and the player are part of the Ashanti Gold contingent currently in the country on business purposes. Kadodia refused to share information before completing a deal with the player.
“I’m not talking about all of my negotiations. I’m not talking about it, I’m sorry. I’m not talking about Mohammed. I’m not talking about what I’m doing, what I’ve done or whatever until the guy is at my training session. Then I will talk to you,†said Kadodia.
The Team of Choice needs a replacement for Mamelodi Sundowns-bound Cuthbert Malajila to strengthen the squad for next season.
