Harry Maguire has spoken out about the bomb threat that was sent to his home earlier this week.
The centre-back has experienced a pretty hit-and-miss stint at Manchester United since his £80m move from Leicester City.
The defender was given the captain’s armband shortly after he arrived at the club and this, coupled with his enormous price-tag and Manchester United’s need to return to the top, has led to serious pressure being placed on Maguire.
The Englishman is often used as a scapegoat for Manchester United and is, especially in the second half of 2021/22 when United completely collapsed, booed by the Red Devils faithful.
However, things went to far on April 20, 2022, when a bomb threat was sent to his family home. The incident occurred shortly after Manchester United’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. Luckily nobody was hurt.
Now, in a recent interview, Maguire has been discussing the threat and how it affected him and his family:
“There is a line,” the 29-year-old said of how he reacted. “We are human beings. I do have a family.
“People ask if it affects me. My mentality is that it doesn’t affect me too much but when it comes to bomb threats, it is more about family.
“I’m just happy my kids are at an age where they don’t read things and see things on the news. If my kids were an older age, they could see things and go to school and people are speaking about it. That is when it affects you a little bit more.”
