After qualifying for its first Futsal AFCON since 1996, Ghana’s Futsal national team emplaned for the 2024 AFCON with hopes of making a mark, despite the relative inexperience of the team on the African continent.

But the hopes of the team were not to be as the team bowed out of the tournament after succumbing to three defeats at the hands of Group mates, Angola, Zambia and Morocco, to whom Ghana lost 11-3 to Angola, 5-2 to Zambia and 8-3 to host Morocco respectively.

Angola, already with three points from a win against Zambia, dominated the final game against Ghana, ending their tournament journey.

With six points, Angola finished behind group leaders and holders Morocco, who defeated Zambia as well. For a country that only resumed playing Futsal barely a year ago, the experience at the tournament will certainly help in the development of the sport in the West African country.

In the upcoming semi-finals, Morocco will play the Group B runners-up, while Angola will meet the Group B winners. Both matches are scheduled for Friday, 19th April , 2024, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Hall, Rabat.
