Ghana forward Elvis Amoh opened his goal account for Detroit City FC as they edged Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the USL Championship.

The 32-year-old scored the opening goal as they settled for a 2-1 win at the Weidner Field in day one of the US second tier competition.

It was Amoh’s debut following his switch from Hartford Athletic.

Colorado Springs Switchbacks finished the game with 10 players after Koa Santos was sent off on the hour mark.

Maxi Rodriguez set up Elvis Amoh to score the game’s first goal after only 11 minutes to put Detroit City ahead as they finished the first half 1-0 up.

Just two minutes after the first half break, Colorado Switchbacks levelled the score after Matttew Mahoney received a pass from Maalique Foster to score.

The game looked like it was heading for a draw until Conot Rutz scored with a minute left to play, clinching a 2-1 win for Detroit City.
