Ghana fall to Zambia in 1st leg of Olympic qualifiers

Zambia scored a first half goal to beat Ghana 1-0 in the 1st leg of the Women’s Olympic Games third round qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Rechael Kundananji – the world’s most expensive female footballer scored the only goal of the match to give Zambia a fascinating first leg advantage. The Bay FC forward chipped the ball over Ghana goalkeeper Victoria Antwi Adjei inside 18 minutes to give the Copper Queens the lead.

The Black Queens came close to getting the equalizer a few times but the visitors held on as the first half ended 1-0 in their favor.

Back from recess, the Black Queens gained composure as they dominated the game but failed to put the ball at the back of the opponents net.

Evelyn Badu and Doris Boaduwaa tormented the Zambia defence in search of the equalizer but their efforts fell flat as Recheal Kundananji’s first half goal gave Zambia a 1-0 win over the Black Queens of Ghana

The 2nd leg of the third round Olympic Games qualifier comes off in Ndola on Wednesday, February 28, 2024.
