As FC Magdeburg gears up for a pivotal showdown against relegation rivals Schalke, German-born Ghanaian defender Daniel Heber has shed light on the unique approach adopted by the team ahead of the crucial fixture.
Following a disappointing defeat against Hertha Berlin, Magdeburg finds themselves in serious need of a resurgence to reignite their campaign for survival in the Bundesliga.
In an exclusive interview with Bild, Heber disclosed that head coach Christian Titz opted for a departure from the conventional route of video analysis.
Instead, Titz emphasized the importance of inner self-reflection among his players upon their return from Berlin. “We didn’t do any video analysis. It was clear that it was up to us. We know what we have to work on,” Heber stated.
The Ghanaian defender highlighted the team’s unwavering focus on the upcoming match as a pivotal factor in their quest for victory. Despite the significance of facing a relegated Schalke side, Heber emphasized the importance of treating the game like any other and aiming to secure all three points.
“It’s a special game because Schalke is relegated from the Bundesliga. But it’s also a game like any other, and we want to get three points,” he affirmed.
Furthermore, Heber stressed the necessity for Magdeburg to exhibit consistency throughout the entire duration of the game, rather than sporadic bursts of performance. “We have to show our performance over the entire game,” he added.
Daniel Heber has made 21 appearances in the German Bundesliga 2 this season.
