In a significant development for Ghanaian football, the fruits of the “Catch Them Young” referees policy are set to take center stage as they prepare to officiate matches in the Division One League.

After four years of rigorous training and evaluation, over two thousand young referees, scouted across the nation’s football regions, are poised to make their mark on the professional football scene.

Since the inception of the policy, these aspiring referees have undergone intensive training and retraining both at the regional level and at the esteemed Technical Centre in Prampram. Their dedication and commitment to honing their craft have been evident as they progressed through the ranks, gaining valuable experience along the way.

Over the past four years, these young referees have been actively involved in officiating matches at the District and Regional levels, gaining invaluable match experience and exposure. They have been entrusted with officiating duties in various competitions, including the Division One League Super Cup, the KGL U-17 inter-regional championship, and the Women’s Premier Super Cup, among others.

Their consistent performance and adherence to the highest standards of officiating have earned them recognition and respect within the football community.

The “Catch Them Young” referees policy has not only unearthed raw talent but has also provided a pathway for the development and promotion of young officiating talent in Ghana.
