I had a setback after Arsenal game – Kudus on why he reported late to camp

Mohammed Kudus has explained why he reported late to the national camp despite being officially released by his club for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The West Ham United player reported to camp one day before our departure from Kumasi to Abidjan following an injury he sustained in a Premier League game against Arsenal in December.

His late arrival sparked criticism from a section of the public who doubted his commitment to the national team. In an interview with ghanafa.org, Kudus explained that the decision to stay in London a bit longer, was due to injury.

‘’After our last game at West Ham I had a setback. I got an injury so I started my rehabilitation at the club” Kudus told ghanafa.org.

”There was constant communication between the club physiotherapist and physiotherapists of the national team and the decision was for me to start my rehabilitation at the club and do the last part of my rehab here (in Ghana) and that is what I am doing’’.

‘’I am doing my best to be ready for the team because the only way I can help the team is to be fully fit and ready’’ he added.

Mohammed Kudus is pushing hard in training to make the Matchday squad for Ghana’s opening game against Cape Verde on Sunday, January 14, 2024.
