The second semi-final of the Women’s Champions League will pit Ampem Darkoa against Sporting club Casablanca at the Laurent Pokou stadium in San Pedro, this evening at 20h00 GMT.

Ampem Darkoa, flying the Ghanian flag are aiming for a historic final. Equally so, they are up against a fellow tournament debutant in Morocco’s SC Casablanca who are looking at following in the footsteps of AS Far who are the reigning champions of the tournament.

In a first for the tournament, two debutants are up against each other, with one of them guaranteed to face the previous winners of the tournament as Mamelodi Sundowns takes on AS Far in the other semi-final taking place this evening.

This is what the coaches had to say:

Mehdi El Qaïchouri, coach of SC Casablanca

“The level of motivation is high. I told the girls to aim for the stars and the state of mind is positive. On a tactical level, we have to keep the same discipline and tactical awareness. During the first match against Mamelodi Sundowns, it’s true that it didn’t work but they realized that they are capable of putting this South African team through a tough time and made them sweat for their win. If we are disciplined, it will pay off.”

Nana Joe Adarkwa, coach of Ampem Darkoa

“Our opponent knows us but by the grace of God we will win this match. Nobody wants to fail, I have confidence in my team. I think everything will be fine. Except for one player, everyone is doing well. It will be a very difficult match, but we are mentally prepared for this meeting. Sporting will come at us strong because they saw us play against AS Far who we beat. The players know what to do and I believe we are ready”.
