Midfielder Majeed Ashimeru ruled out of Ghana-CAR AFCON qualifier

Anderlecht midfielder, Majeed Ashimeru is expected to be ruled out for Ghana’s clash against Central African Republic fixture in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers after picking an ankle injury weeks ago.

Ashimeru sustained a sprained ankle in Anderlecht 1-0 away loss to Royal Antwerp in the Belgium Jupiler Pro league opener.

The Belgium giant are expecting Ashimeru to make a return to the squad in late September.

The Black Stars will welcome the Les Fauves in the final Group E game on September 7 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Coach Chris Hughton is expected to name his squad this week which the player is set go be excluded.

Ashimeru returned to the Black Stars squad after being omitted from the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad that represented Ghana in Qatar.
