Ghana midfielder Majeed Ashimeru expressed his delight after netting his first goal in an European club competition.
The 25-year-old scored Anderlecht’s second in the 2-0 victory over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarterfinal.
Ashimeru had earlier featured in 20 games and and for him it feels great to score in the knockout stages.
“I have been waiting a long time for this and I think it was the right moment to score my first in Europe,” the midfielder told 3FM.
“When the ball was coming [after Francis Amuzu’s cross], I knew if I took it on the first time it might not go [as I want].
“So I just took a touch and the touch was really good…[leading to the goal]. It feels really great.”
Ashimeru has three goals in all competitions for Anderlecht this season as they continue their chase for a spot in the semi-final of the Uefa Europa Conference League.
