VfL Wolfsburg Women welcome Paris Saint-Germain Feminine to Volkswagen Arena for the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final clash on Thursday.

Wolfsburg claimed a 1-0 victory in the first leg, with Dominique Janssen scoring from the penalty spot following Elisa de Almeida’s sending off.

Can the French side turn things around in Germany? Or will Wolfsburg book their place in the semi-finals? It’s time to take a closer look at the teams.

Let’s start with the hosts, Wolfsburg, whose three-game winning streak was ended by a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Wolfsburg now find themselves second in the Frauen-Bundesliga table – one point behind Bayern – although they have won 14 of their 16 league matches this season.

The German club also enjoyed an unbeaten UWCL group-stage campaign earlier this term, recording four wins and two draws to finish atop Group B.

Having lost just one of their previous 13 Champions League games, Wolfsburg will be hopeful of punching their ticket to the last four.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain claimed a 1-0 victory over Montpellier last time out, extending their winning streak in the league to four matches.

Despite remaining unbeaten in the Division 1 Feminine this term – picking up 14 wins and three draws – second-placed PSG find themselves one point shy of table-topping Lyon.

It is worth remembering that PSG lost two of their six UWCL group games earlier this season, although they still managed to finish second in Group A.

Having suffered back-to back defeats to Chelsea at the end of 2022, Paris-Saint Germain will need to up their game in order to get past Wolfsburg.

Head-to-head: Wolfsburg and PSG also met in the UWCL back in 2015, with both sides claiming away victories that season.

That means Wolfsburg have won two of their three Champions League matches against PSG, notching three goals and one clean sheet along the way.

Team news: Wolfsburg’s Ewa Pajor finds herself atop the UWCL Golden Boot leaderboard, having bagged seven goals and two assists this term.

PSG will be without the suspended Elisa de Almeida for the second leg, so Lynn Wilms is expected to fill in at centre-back.

After claiming a famous victory in Paris last week, Wolfsburg will be confident of completing the job in front of their fans on Thursday.

Forebet predicts that Wolfsburg will secure another clean-sheet win against PSG, with the hosts expected to notch a low-scoring victory at Volkswagen Arena.
