Roberto De Zerbi expects Ghana international Tariq Lamptey to be available for Brighton’s next match against Leeds United after he suffered an injury against West Ham on Saturday.
The right-back – after only making his third Premier League start in the 2022/23 season – had to be substituted just 16 minutes after kickoff with an apparent knee setback.
Alexis Mac Allister, Joel Veltman, Kaoru Mitoma, and Danny Welbeck scored for Brighton as they registered a 4-0 victory at the Amex.
After the game, Brighton’s coach confirmed the injury was not a major issue.
De Zerbi said: “Yes it is not a big injury. I think it is only a small problem.”
While De Zerbi downplayed the severity of the injury, it remains to be seen if the 22-year-old will be fit to be in contention for a starting place away to Leeds United next Saturday
Ghana boss Chris Hughton will also be keeping an eye on Lamptey’s situation for the March international break where the Black Stars will be taking on Angola in back-to-back games in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifiers.
