West Bromwich Albion do not need to make many forays into this January transfer window, it could be argued, given their sensational start to life under Carlos Corberan.
The Spaniard took over from a beleaguered Steve Bruce, driving the relegation-headed Baggies to an unlikely promotion push.
His side have won eight of their last nine Championship games and are just one point behind the playoff spots.
Only adding to the good news was the return of Daryl Dike from injury, which has alleviated the burden from Karlan Grant and Brandon Thomas-Asante.
The American boasts three goal contributions in their last six league games, and since his return, the former Salford City striker has also scored four goals in his last six games in all competitions.
However, Grant remains toothless.
As such, the rumours linking them with Brighton and Hove Albion wonderkid Evan Ferguson should not be dismissed, especially given how he has taken to life in the Premier League.
These came courtesy of the print version of The Daily Mail (5 January, pg 69), who claim that both they and Burnley are keen on taking the Irish teenager on loan.
Having starred in Premier League 2, with five goals in six games, he has converted that proficiency into the senior game, scoring twice and assisting one more in his first three league games, including one against league-leaders Arsenal.
However, this was a rise that coach Andrew Crofts had predicted back in September, as he took to the Seagulls’ official website to claim: “He has got a lot of different strengths. For a 17-year-old, he is physically very good in terms of handling that side of the game, he is a very powerful boy.

“He has got wonderful technique in terms of finishing – he knows how to find the back of the net in lots of different ways.
“He can also link the game in terms of connecting with the midfield and wide players. His game understanding for such a young player is very high, but he knows, of course, there is a lot to work on.”
The now 18-year-old has already broken records with his emergence, with his goal against Everton seeing him become the youngest player to score in consecutive Premier League appearances.
This came a week after he had become his club’s youngest-ever scorer with his strike against the Gunners too.
Clearly able to hold his own in England’s top-flight, perhaps a consistent run for the Baggies amongst some fine strikers could help mould Ferguson into a truly outstanding number nine for the south coast outfit.
Despite his youth, he already marks a huge Grant upgrade, who himself has only scored three times in the Championship from 20 appearances this campaign.
It might be a long shot, but perhaps given their form it could be a tempting offer to allow him to thrive in a positive environment where his game time would be more guaranteed.
