The Ghana FA has sent a congratulatory message to midfielder Michael Essien for his UEFA Champions League success with Chelsea.Â
Essien was part of the Chelsea team that won the UEFA Champions League when they defeated Bayern Munich on penalties on Saturday.
A statement signed by the president of the GFA, Kwesi Nyantakyi, said, “on behalf of the people of Ghana, we send you our heartiest congratulations following your Champions League success with Chelsea recently.”
”We know you were eagerly waiting for this moment and we are thrilled to see your dream come true. It is surely a moment of great happiness and you must be really overjoyed.
”We know this momentous title success will spur you on to push yourself to greater heights.”
Essien has been a key player for Chelsea but has fallen out of favour since Roberto Di Matteo took over as coach.
