Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey is in a mood of ecstasy following Mohammed Muntari’s goal in the ongoing World Cup.

The forward netted Qatar’s first ever goal in the global competition in their 3-1 defeat to Senegal on Friday afternoon.

The 28-year-old, who was born and bred in Kumasi, naturalized for Qatar and plays for their senior national team since 2014.

Before his departure to the Arab country, Muntari had his basic football training with the Odartey Lamptey’s academy.

“I’m so much excited for seeing my player Mohammed Muntari scoring on the biggest stage.” Nii Odartey Lamptey exclusively told Kickoffghana.com

“He started his football career at Glow Lamp Soccer Academy and he was here for a year, and he was a great striker during our league season.” Odartey said.

“My academy has produced many players, the likes of Kwame Kizito, Samuel Appiah, Daniel Lomottey, Dickson Afokwah and Maxwell Ansah so is not only Muntari.” He added

Qatar will play Netherlands in their last group A game as they are close to exiting from the Mundial.
