Carlos Tevez questions Lionel Messi’s happiness at PSG

Carlos Tevez questions Lionel Messi’s happiness at PSG

Lionel Messi joined PSG over the summer, departing long-time club FC Barcelona in the biggest transfer story of the year.

With the Argentine reuniting with Neymar, as well as golden boy Kylian Mbappe, there was an expectation that PSG would go on to dominate both domestically and in Europe this campaign.

However, that has not really proven the case so far. The capital giants did once again win Ligue 1, but Messi scored just six in 25 games, whilst also providing 13 assists. A solid record, yes, but nowhere near the level we have become accustomed to seeing from the South American.

In the Champions League, meanwhile, Messi scored five in seven, but PSG still crashed out of the competition at the last 16 stage at the hands of Spanish giants, Real Madrid.

Now, after what has been a poor season via his lofty standards, Carlo Tevez has claimed that Lionel Messi is a “completely different” player with Argentina to the one that has been seen at Paris Saint-Germain in 2021-22, with the all-time great considered to be only “half” of himself in French football.

Quizzed on why he sees two different characters, Tevez said: “One is when he is at PSG and the other when he comes to the national team.”

Is Messi unhappy at PSG?

Whether or not Tevez is right in his assessment of Messi remains to be seen. Yes, he could be unhappy in Paris and that is why his goal contributions have declined this season.

Alternatively, Messi may simply be coming towards the end of his career and, like every player, has lost that half a yard from his game which impacts his performances.
