Everton are currently locked in Premier League action with Brentford at Goodison Park.
The Toffees headed into the game knowing that a win would all but guarantee their Premier League survival for another campaign, after both Burnley and Leeds United dropped points earlier on Sunday.
And Frank Lampard’s side got off to a perfect start when Dominic Calvert-Lewin stabbed home an early free-kick:

Things quickly went south for the Merseysiders, however, as, just eight minutes after taking the lead, Jarrad Branthwaite was shown a straight red card for bringing down Brentford’s Ivan Toney who was through on goal:

After being given his marching orders on the day, it was then revealed that Branthwaite has matched a rather unwanted record.
As per Opta, Jarrad Branthwaite is the first teenager to receive a red card in a Premier League game for Everton since a 17-year-old Wayne Rooney in December 2002 against Birmingham.
