The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has defended its decision to appoint additional coaches to the Black Stars’ technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
GFA Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, says the move is aimed at strengthening the team’s competitiveness and ensuring a well-balanced technical structure.
“The criticism is unfortunate. This is not about increasing the headcount, but about ensuring we put forward the very best to compete at the highest level,” he told Akoma 87.9 FM. “When you compare the coaches we have assembled with those of other countries, ours are even fewer in number.”
Asante Twum emphasized that Ghana’s ambition on the global stage demands the right technical direction and experience.
“Our goal at the World Cup is to make an impact, and we can only achieve that with the best expertise guiding us. We believe these coaches will take us where we want to be,” he said.
The GFA is confident that the expanded technical team will provide the Black Stars with the necessary support and expertise to meet their objectives and compete effectively at the highest level of international football.
