Inaki Williams scored a late header to help Ghana beat Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
It was a hard fought win for Ghana who did not start well but finished impressively to take all three points.
Despite the back to back defeats to Mexico and the United States of America, the Black Stars were still in slumber especially in the first half with the visitors being the better side.
Madagascar tested Richard Ofori a couple of times but the South Africa-based goalkeeper kept the score levelled.
Chris Hughton’s side could barely string passes together to create chances which compelled the coach to make two changes after the break.
Majeed Ashimeru and Denis Odoi were brought in to replace Baba Iddrisu and Alidu Seidu respectively.
It massively improved the performance after the recess as Ghana pinned Madagascar for major part of the half.
Mohammed Kudus, Majeed Ashimeru, substitute Ernest Nuamah all registered shots on target but were denied.
The away side nearly snatched the winner having hit the post at the latter stages.
But in the end, it was Inaki who came up with the good at the death to win it for the Black Stars.
Ghana travel to face Comoros on November 21 in the second group match.
