The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is kicking off today in Morocco, with hosts Morocco taking on Comoros in the opening match at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The tournament features 24 teams competing across nine stadiums in six cities, with defending champions Ivory Coast looking to retain their title.
Morocco, who won the tournament in 1976, is under pressure to deliver a strong performance, especially with Achraf Hakimi’s participation uncertain due to an ankle injury.
The Atlas Lions are odds on favourite to nick the trophy’s, having performed strongly in the 2022 World Cup and chalked remarkable success across various levels in 2025.
