Berekum Chelsea beat Karela United 1-0 in their second-week fixture at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park on Sunday for their first victory of the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
Mizack Afriyie provided the crucial breakthrough, scoring in the 10th minute to give Chelsea an early lead.
Despite Karela’s attempts, particularly in the second half, they were unable to find an equaliser, leaving Afriyie’s early strike as the match-winner for the home side.
The win lifts Chelsea to third in the league table with four points, as they shift focus to their next match against Asante Kotoko.
For Karela United, it was their second straight defeat, having lost to Kotoko in the season opener.
Now sitting in the bottom three, Karela will look to secure their first points of the season when they face Accra Lions in Nalerigu.
