2023 Africa Cup of Nations: West Brom star Brandon Thomas-Asante named in Black Stars provisional squad

West Bromwich Albion’s rising star, Brandon Thomas-Asante, has secured a spot in the Black Stars’ provisional squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The dynamic forward, born in England but proudly carrying the heritage of both Ghana and Jamaica, has caught the discerning eye of Black Stars coach Chris Hughton.

Brandon Thomas-Asante’s journey from his debut with Milton Keynes Dons in 2016 to his recent exploits with West Brom has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Having inked a three-year deal with West Bromwich Albion in August 2022 for a reported fee of £300,000, the 24-year-old wasted no time in making a resounding impact. His debut for the club saw a dramatic 98th-minute equalizer against Burnley, setting the stage for what would become a stellar season.

Brandon Thomas-Asante has made 20 appearances, scored six goals, and assisted two goals in the English Championship this season.

Ghana is in Group B alongside record winners Egypt, Mozambique, and Cape Verde.
