2023 AFCON qualifiers: Alexander Djiku excluded from Ghana’s squad

Strasbourg defender has been excluded from Otto Addo’s thirty-three man squad for the upcoming Afcon 2023 qualifiers and the pre-World Cup friendlies.

The Ghana Football Association released the list for the games on Thursday morning on their official website.

Defender Alexander Djiku played an important role in Ghana’s playoff games against the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

The Black Stars of Ghana secured a ticket to the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar after drawing 0-0 in the first leg and 1-1 in the second leg.

The defenders called up by coach Otto Addo are Jonathan Mensah, Joseph Aidoo, Denis Odoi, Alidu Seidu, Gideon Mensah, Daniel Amartey, Baba Rahman, and Abdul Mumin.

Alexander Djiku made 31 appearances for Strasbourg in the French Ligue 1 this season. The 27-year-old scored one for Strasbourg who finished sixth on the log at the end of the season.
