Heart of Lions left it late to stun Medeama in a highly competitive Ghana Premier League clash on Sunday.

The much-anticipated game took place at the Akoon Community Park, where the visiting team prevailed with a win.

Medeama succumbed to a 1-0 defeat on home turf in matchday 32 of the Ghana Premier League campaign, boosting Lions chances of surviving the relegation drop.

Before this game, both teams had recorded three straight victories in the domestic top-flight.

Despite creating goalscoring opportunities, both teams were unable to find the back of the net in the first half of the game.

The Yellow and Mauve went into the game with all seriousness as they aimed for maximum points in the encounter but Lions, who were also desperate for points proved to be a stronger opponent and triumphed over the home team.

Medeama and Lions were on the verge of sharing the spoils in Tarkwa but late in the game, the visitors grabbed the winning goal through Ebenezer Abban’s strike.

Abban fired home the winning goal in injury time after converting from the spot nicely.

Despite the defeat, the defending league champions remains third position with 49 points after 32 matches.

Lions, on the other hand, moves to 13th position accumulating 41 points.

And two games to end the campaign, they will be hoping to secure maximum points to maintain their status in the league.
