Nations FC’s hopes of closing the gap on leaders FC Samartex were dashed after losing 1-0 to bottom club Real Tamale United at the Naa Sheriga Sports Center in Nalerigu.
Mohammed Iddris scored the only goal in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League match week 25 clash on Wednesday afternoon.
Despite winning the game three important points, Real Tamale United are still bottom of the league table but are level on with Heart of Lions – 25.
Meanwhile, it was a missed opportunity for Nations FC to close the gap on leaders Samartex who drew 1-1 against Legon Cities. Nations trail by three points after not adding to their 43 points.
A cagey first half finished goals in the North East Region but the hosts changed that when Mohammed Iddris scored six minutes after the interval.
Real Tamale United held on to win the game 1-0 as there were no further goals in the clash.
Real Tamale United will play away to Bechem United while Nations FC host Bofoakwa Tano over the weekend.
