The Business Development Manager of FC Samartex 1996, Paul Anyaba, has disclosed that the team’s major objective is to do well in the 2023/2024 Ghana Premier League season, not win the title.

Anyaba said this following the team’s recent victory over Accra Lions, securing their 10th win of the season in a thrilling encounter at the WAFA Park in Sogakpe, ending with a 3-1 scoreline.

In an interview with Citi Sports, Anyaba articulated the club’s ambition to achieve a commendable performance throughout the league campaign.

“It is our ambition to do well in the league. Since the beginning of the season, all the strategies we have put in place is to make sure the club do well in the league. And if doing well means winning the league, so be it.

“Yes, if the right investment we are doing is enough to lead us to win the league so be it, but then we are not so much fixated. After all we are not given the target to win the league. That also doesn’t mean that when we have a chance to win the league we won’t win it. It’s a competition and no one goes into a competition with a defeating mind.”

Currently sitting atop the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League standings with 32 points, Fc Samartex 1996 is poised to face Aduana Stars in Dormaa at the NANA AGYEMAN BADU PARK on Monday in their next fixture.
