2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Great Olympics head coach keen on avoiding relegation

Accra Great Olympics head coach, Orlando Lantey Wellington, has emphasized on the need to avoid going down this season after picking up a much-needed win against Asante Kotoko on Sunday in Kumasi.

A 1-0 victory for Olympics meant the Accra-based side are still in the running to maintain their Premier League status next season, albeit in the relegation zone.

Olympics, who occupy the last relegation survival position (16th) have three more games to play until the climax of the season, with an Accra derby against rivals Hearts of Oak, a game against Dreams Fc & Real Tamale United on the horizon.

However, despite the underwhelming performances this term, head coach Wellington is confident of finding his way around the drop.

“Yeah. There’s a way for us to get out of the relegation zone, that’s what why I’m very very happy that we collected this 3 maximum points here at Kumasi”, he said

Although defending aptly throughout the season and keeping the most clean sheets (14), Olympics have failed to create and score at the other end of the pitch, but will hope to put their scoring woes behind them in Wednesday’s clash againt Dreams Fc
