2022 World Cup: Morocco charter 30 extra flights to Qatar before semi-final against France

Moroccan authorities have put on 30 extra flights out to Qatar this week as fans travel in large numbers for the game with France.

Moroccan airline, Royal Air Maroc (RAM) are behind the new flights, creating what the company called an “air bridge” as part of a statement that explained: “To enable the many Moroccans who want to cheer on the national team in its epic run and experience the emotion of the semi-finals of the World Cup, Royal Air Maroc has established an air bridge between Casablanca and Doha.”

The Atlas Lions stunned Portugal 1-0 to reach the final four, while Les Bleus sent a dogged England side home via a 2-1 scoreline to keep their hopes of back-to-back titles alive, and either Argentina or Croatia will await the victors in the showpiece event.

No matter what transpires at the Al Bayt Stadium on Wednesday, the current Morocco crop have already cemented their place in national and continental folklore as the first-ever African nation to reach the semi-finals of the World Cup.
