2022 World Cup: Goalkeeper Jojo Wallocott confident Black Stars will advance from their group –

Ghana goalkeeper Jojo Wallocott believes the Black Stars will advance from their 2022 FIFA World Cup group despite being pitted against tough opponents.

The Black Stars will face Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea in the tournament. Ghana will begin their campaign against the former European champions, then face the Asians before concluding their group stage campaign against the South Americans in a rematch of the epic 2010 quarter-final clash.

The four-time African champions, who qualified after beating bitter rivals Nigeria in the playoffs last month, are considered underdogs, but Wallocott believes the Black Stars have what it takes to finish first or second and advance to the knockout stage.

“For sure, the group is tough, it is not easy at all but we are Ghana and we are ready for the fight and ready for the battle, so am sure it will be fine.”

“Yeah, definitely, we are going to qualify from the group,” the Swindon Town goalkeeper told Happy FM.

Wallocott made his Ghana debut in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast last September.

He produced an assured performance in Ghana’s 3-1 victory and has since been the team’s safest pair of hands.

So far, the 25-year-old has made nine appearances for Black Stars.
