2022 Wafu-B U-17 Cup: Ghana breeze past Togo to book semis spot

Ghana breezed past Togo with a 3-0 victory at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the 2022 Wafu Zone-B U-17 Cup of Nations.

Having finished the first half in a barren stalemate, the Black Starlets finally opened the scoring 10 minutes after the restart.

Pius Adua emerged at the end of a nice buildup from the right to score with a simple touch.

Coach Paa Kwasi Fabin’s charges proceeded to stretch the lead with an Abdul Razak Salifu effort in the 77th minute.

Captain Collins Agyemang then put the tie to bed with an expertly taken penalty on the 80th-minute mark.

The result means Ghana finish second in Group A and join Nigeria in the semifinals.

Starlets will be facing the top team from Group B in the last four.

The winner progresses to the grand finale and as well secures a ticket to the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) slated for Algeria.

Meanwhile, Togo’s campaign ends after two straight defeats. They lost 3-1 to Group A winners Nigeria in their opening match.
