Pep Guardiola, Jurgen Klopp, and Eddie Howe are among the nominees for the 2021/22 Premier League Manager of the Season award.
Thomas Frank and Patrick Vieira round out the five-man shortlist, having performed above expectations at Brentford and Crystal Palace, respectively, this season.
The shortlist is as follows:
- Thomas Frank (Brentford)
- Pep Guardiola (Man City)
- Eddie Howe (Newcastle United)
- Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)
- Patrick Vieira (Crystal Palace)
Guardiola was the winner last year, and the Spaniard appears to be in excellent place to earn his fourth trophy in five seasons this time around, if his Man City team finishes the job and wins the Premier League title.
Klopp won the trophy in 2019/20, and after a dismal 2020/21 season, he has led Liverpool back into contention this season.
Howe, who has turned around Newcastle’s fortunes during an aggressive January transfer window, will have his supporters as well. Meanwhile, both Frank and Vieira have kept clubs that were expected to struggle out of relegation jeopardy.
A fan vote will be coupled with the recommendations of a panel of “football experts” to determine the winner.
