? Alphonso Davies wins CONCACAF Player of the Year award

Canada defender Alphonso Davies has been named CONCACAF Men’s Player of the Year.

The confederation of Central and North America awarded Davies the award as the best CONCACAF player of 2021. 

The voting involved coaches and players from the 41 association members of the confederation, as well as the American media and fans. 

The 21-year-old from Edmonton, appeared in seven World Cup qualifying games for Canada in 2021, with the team posting a 3-0-4 record over those games. The stretch included a 4-1 win over Panama that featured a highlight-reel goal by Davies.

Davies has been on the sidelines with an injury and resumed training with the Bavarian and is expected to return to action soon.
