Sadio Mane is now Senegal’s all-time top scorer after the Liverpool man overtook Henri Camara on Saturday night.
The winger scored a hattrick against Benin as the Lions of Teranga got their 2023 AFCON qualifier campaign off to a perfect start.
The treble took Mane’s tally in international football to 32, three ahead of the former Wigan man.
Mane first scored from the spot after just 12 minutes, before adding a second 10 minutes later.

He then completed his treble in the second half, minutes after Benin had been reduced to 10 men thanks to a 51st-minute red card to Sessi D’Almeida.
The Squirrels pulled one back late on in the match, but it served as a mere consolation.
The reigning Africa Player of the Year’s future has however been the subject of debate in recent weeks, with the talk set to rumble on for a while.
Mane is keen on leaving the Merseyside club this summer, with Bayern Munich favourites to sign him up.
Latest reports indicate the German giants have submitted a £25m bid for the 30-year-old who has a year left on his current contract.
