Mateo Kovacic’s sweet strike against Liverpool has been voted Chelsea’s 2021/22 Goal of the Season.
Kovacic beat competition from the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Antonio Rudiger, and academy youngster Harvey Vale, receiving 88 percent of the total votes.
The Croatian’s goal secured a point for Thomas Tuchel’s side, who trailed 2-0 just before the break against Jurgen Klopp at Stamford Bridge.
Speaking after scoring the goal, Kovacic termed it his favourite strike in his career.
“That goal was very nice and of course one of the most beautiful goals in my career. I have to say there was a little bit of luck involved because it went in off the post, but I was happy to score,’ said the ever-humble Kovacic after the game.
Kovavic scoops the last of Chelsea’s end-of-season awards, joining the likes of Mason Mount, and Sam Kerr.
